How to read the results
Reseller profit is the sell price minus the buy price, then minus payment fees and fixed costs. Because SMM panel prices are quoted per 1,000, profit per order depends on the quantity ordered.
Margin answers "what percentage of sales becomes profit", while markup answers "by what percentage did I raise the buy price". For the same profit, markup is always higher than margin, so the two must not be swapped when setting targets.
Formulas used
- Revenue per order = sell price per 1,000 x quantity / 1,000
- Cost per order = buy price per 1,000 x quantity / 1,000
- Payment fee = revenue per order x fee percentage
- Gross profit = revenue - cost
- Net profit = gross profit - payment fee
- Margin = profit / sell price x 100%
- Markup = gross profit / buy price x 100%
- Monthly profit = net profit per order x orders per month - fixed costs
- Break-even point = fixed costs / net profit per order, rounded up
The calculation does not include drops, refills, taxes, or exchange rate differences. Add them to fixed costs or adjust the sell price where relevant.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between margin and markup?
Markup is calculated against the buy price, margin against the sell price. An illustrative example: buy at Rp 10,000, sell at Rp 15,000 per 1,000. The profit is Rp 5,000, so the markup is 50% (5,000 divided by 10,000) and the margin is 33.3% (5,000 divided by 15,000). A 50% markup is not the same as a 50% margin.
How do I calculate the break-even point?
Divide monthly fixed costs by net profit per order. The result is rounded up. If net profit per order is zero or negative, the break-even point is never reached.
Should I include payment fees?
You should. Gateway or e-wallet deductions are usually a percentage of the sell price and directly reduce profit per order. Enter 0 if you do not bear those costs.
